Achievements

The department of Epidemiology of KazNMU named by SD Asfendiyarov is producing department in the Faculty of Public Health. The department was organized in 1946 on the hygiene faculty and operated until 1964. Founder and first director (since 1946. To 1988) was a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SUR and the USUR Academy of Medical Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SUR and the Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic, Professor Karakulov Ishambay Karakulovich.
In connection with the transfer of sanitary-hygienic faculty (1964) The department was transformed into a course at the department of epidemiology of infectious diseases in Karagandy affter re-opening for sanitary Faculty (1989). In 1995 the course was transformed into an independent department of epidemiology, which for more than 18 years as head of MD, Professor Amireev Saken Amireevich. From 2014-2015 academic year, the department is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences Sattorov Adilgirey Ikramovich.
Currently, the department has 1 professors, 5 associate professors, 4 senior teachers, 4 teachers. Among the staff of the department – 5 MD, 7 PhD, 5 Master of Medical Sciences.
Employees of the department prepared the basic tutorials and practical guidance on Epidemiology: General and private epidemiology in 2 volumes (2002, 2008), “Meditsinalyқ parasitology” (2005), a practical guide “Standards and algorithms activities in infectious diseases” in 2 volumes (2007-2011.), Kazakh-Russian Dictionary on epidemiology, microbiology and medical parasitology (2011), “Immunization in Practice” (2014), and more than three dozen teaching aids on various aspects of public and private epidemiology of infectious diseases the state and Russian languages. Also prepared two electronic textbook (Atlas of Medical Parasitology and clinical manifestations of infectious diseases) (2004, 2010)..

The main scientific direction of the department of epidemiology is to improve epidemiological surveillance of infectious and parasitic diseases relevant to the Health of Kazakhstan. This problem of brucellosis, tuberculosis, listeriosis, pasteurellosis, echinococcosis, a number of hemorrhagic fevers, vaccine-preventable diseases (polio, measles, rubella, congenital rubella incl, diphtheria, meningococcal disease, viral hepatitis A, B).
