The meeting with the Chairman of the Agency for the Protection of Consumer Rights Matishev Aliakpar Bolatovich

22.01.2015 in the Conference Hall of the Kazakh Academy of Nutrition (KAN) a meeting was held with the Chairman of the Agency for the Protection of Consumer Rights Matishev Aliakpar Bolatovich. At this meeting were present Vice President for Research and Innovation Projects Ramazanova B.A, representatives of agriculture, KAN staff, faculty of the Department “Nutrition” and 4-5 year students of the Faculty of “Public health” and “Medical and prophylactic business” of KazNMU named by S.D Asfendiyarov. The meeting was begun with a welcome speech by Academician Sharmanov T.S, who devoted his speech to nutrition. One of the main issues of the meeting was to discuss the results of scientific work “The study of the content of trans fatty acids in the domestic and imported oil products, pastries and determination of their risk to health”, performed by employees of the Nutrition Department in 2014 as part of intrainstitutional research grants of KazNMU. At this meeting was determined the urgency of the problems of trans fatty acids and presented possible ways of preventing cardiovascular disease in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Toregeldy Sharmanovich noted that based on an analysis of all the accumulated facts, FAO / WHO found that the consumption of any amount of industrial trans fatty acids dangerous to health. For TFAs doesn’t exist none lower safe and tolerable upper consumption border. The maximum content of TFAs in the surveyed domestic and imported products is found most of all in oil and fat and sugar pastry products. Academician Sharmanov T.S concluded his report with the words: “TFAs are not contained in mare’s milk and this product would be ideal raw material for the production of healthy foods without containing trans fatty acids.”
